Transitioning Between Color LUTs and Adjustment Layers (Premiere Pro)

Watch a video tutorial on How To Transition Between Color LUTs and Adjustment Layers.

When To Use This: Transitioning between color themes can be a creative way to change the mood of your videos. In this video tutorial, you will learn how to fade from one adjustment layer to another (each with their own lumetri color settings).

How To Do It: You will be able to fade from one color theme to the next by using adjustment layers combined with a cross dissolve transition in Premiere Pro.

Step #1: Create two adjustment layers above both clips in Premiere Pro.

Step #2: Finalize the color correction you would like for each respective clip by using the lumetri color panel when selected on each adjustment layer. The changes should immediately be visible from your preview window.

Step #3: Locate your effects panel and search for “Cross Dissolve”. Drop that transition effect in between both adjustment layers so they fade into each other.

You will be able to fine-tune the speed of the transition by toggling over the edge of the transition and either extending or shortening the length of the transition.
